Girl, 11, escapes after man grabs her near school

Just got this email from a list I'm on:

I write in response to the discussions that took place last week pertaining
to the anxieties resulting from the news of the attempted abduction at
Crofton House School on November 4th.    This incident was reported
throughout many school districts, and resulted in a school near Oakridge
discussing the need to hire additional security to patrol the playground due
to increased safety concerns.

Today I received the monthly Kerrisdale Elementary School newsletter which
contained the following paragraph under the heading "Alleged Abduction
Attempt at Crofton House":

"The police investigation into this incident has been completed and they
have concluded that the report was unfounded and there is presently no
threat to the public."

It would appear that fears about our childrens' security was unfounded in
this instance, for although I have not had the opportunity to speak to any
teachers, my assumption from the above-mentioned statement is that this
incident was fabricated by the student making the claim.  Hopefully this
clarification will be circulated amongst the various schools in the area in
order to allay any immediate fears about a predator being active in our
local area. "
