A chicken called Honor stunned its owner when it turned from a hen into a cockerel.
The unusual 'before' and 'after' photos show how the Black Rock chicken has swapped genders over the past 12 months.
Owner Gill Whiteley originally thought the crowing she heard was from a nearby farm as she only kept hens.

Bizarre. The article offers a rationale for the change:
A poultry website explained that this sort of sex change in chickens
was a one-in-10,000 rarity. It happens when a damaged ovary causes the
hen's testosterone levels to soar and therefore the bird's appearance
and behaviour change from female to male.
Can this happen to other species I wonder?

Ah, check the source, though. The Daily Mail is a nonsense-laden tabloid. Pay no attention, it probably didn't really happen.

I found this page looking around to find out why my hen did it. I have only one hen, had it for 6 months laying eggs faithfully every day up until 2 weeks ago.
Early this morning at about 4-5 am I woke up to what sounded like a scream. It repeated a few more times. My hen was out crowing.
I'm on the internet looking for answers & to see if it's permanent. I live in a residential area.... there's no way I can keep it if it keeps crowing. Anyway, basically - I'd suggest believing it's true.
