NP Rank:
If You Want Her To Say Yes, Don't Do This
A guy I know recently proposed to a friend of mine using the same
ring that he used for his ex-fiance, which led me to realize that there
are many things that men don’t understand about women, and how to
propose to their girlfriend is definitely one of them.
And it’s not because men don’t know how to be romantic, it’s because they do not understand the importance of the proposal.
A man thinks that the most important aspect of a proposal is that
they’ve decided that they want to spend the rest of their life with one
woman. So once they’ve made that decision everything else in their mind
is secondary.
Where as with a woman the proposal is the first moment where she
finds out that the guy that she loves truly wants to spend the rest of
his life with her. She not only wants to remember and cherish that
moment, but also wants to tell all her friends the intimate details of
the proposal.
So as a guy, I thought I’d offer some proposal advice:
Don’t propose on a holiday, her birthday, your birthday, or any
other day that has any significance past the day that you’re proposing.
Never on the phone, e-mail, instant message, video message, or any other type of communication where you’re not present.
That includes a Craig’s list add, a Fed-Ex box, E-bay, and a singing telegram.
Never while you’re drunk, driving, or having sex. Sporting events,
sports bars, skywriting, jumbotrons, and TV commercial breaks are all
out.
Never hide the ring in her food, her purse or tampon box.
And just in case you’re still not sure, if you can’t repeat the story in church, it’s probably not a good idea.

Haha, so true! Now you just need to spread the word a little wider... :)

Don't put her on the top of a cliff/void/look out and stand behind her... her first thought will be 'I can't say no, he'll push!' (not speaking from experience or anything... ), also... remember that you've had a LOOOOOONG time to decide that this is what you want, and she has 3.8 seconds before you start wondering if you've made a grave errror.... it's a lot of pressure - at least make sure there's something to drink close at hand.

Oh man, I just added this video of guy proposing to a girl at center court of a basketball game and she rejected him.
Nicole Billard, the couple should probably talk about it before, in general terms. Isn't that standard?
