It’s Okay to believe there may be a God

You may be a declared atheist maybe a weak atheist like me, but I am sure at times you wonder if you got it all wrong. What if a God or Gods really do exists yes I am sure at times you may wonder and lets be honest about it, its at times when we think of dying.

I often lay in bed wondering what if I got it all wrong but then the hard facts come to mind about my path to atheism which was due to reading the holy text, well at least those that originated from the Middle East. Also the history of religion and the crimes made to man kind in the cause of one religion or another. It was when I realized religious history showed that religion was used to control people and it states in the bible that God created everything and knew everything, knowingly he created the angel that became the devil.

Then reading about the Big Bang and of course relating to facts that show we evolved from a one cell creature and are related to the ape family. I started to find humor in the view of creation in the Torah and the Christian Bible oh my the view of our ancient ancestor. They of course were low on scientific education or education when it really comes down to facts.

I can not call myself a complete agnostic of my atheist view but being open minded I am interested in the views of pantheist but my real view myself is that there is an intelligence behind the creation of the Universe, the creation of the star dust its something we call nature and something we are all part of. As we and every living thing are made up of the product produced at the birth of the universe the very star dust that makes all this possible. The aim on this planet from the first spark of life was survival we humans are the process of that survival instinct we have evolved to be the top species on this planet due to our seniority in intelligence and creativity of building weapons and tools with our hands.

I can understand why people have religious conviction as its hard to believe that a super being or beings are not behind creation and keeping things ticking. That’s made rules for us all to live by and of course the aim of the game of life is when we are dead, if we have done good and believe in this super being, the super being let us live with it in heaven and grants us a everlasting life in the spirit world. The down side is we can be sent to hell and live in everlasting life shoveling fuel on the giant fires of hell.

But fellow atheist I don’t think I am alone by having some thoughts about what if I am wrong and there is a God or Gods. Even though I declare my self as an Atheist and my logic thinking tells me no God or Gods exist.

I ask for your honesty when commenting on this article,  swearing  on the bible  is not required, lol

yes Bob its ok to believe there maybe a God...And to let you know even if you don't believe in him, he won't let you go to hell....That is the beauty of God....He paid the price for all of mankinds sins in the world. This includes the sin in not believing in him. There is God, because man certainly has no ability to create the world we live in....and to think that intelligence of order came from a big bang? Whatever that is....whether big bolder asteroids collided, or some big giant gas ball crashed into some planets,,,hardly compares that such violence and no thought could create life and structure things in such a way, that makes living on earth a memorable event....Granted things are not the same since Adam and Eve, and the wars that have been experienced......to even bringing Jesus into the world to fulfill the Gospel....but it doesn't mean all is loss. There is what God has given Freedom of choice, that being he wants us to choose the right thing, instead of having him force us to accept him. That would not be love.....

Death is like an old worn out structure whether a pair of shoes or an old building....they finally wear out like the body keeps moving toward in time....But we know that if intelligence is all around us that created us, certainly there is something that is there when we leave.. I firmly believe that...

You are part of the human family on earth, and God cares more about us, than any other  creation he has made....because he wants us to be like him...and to love and respect him. It's the least I can do, knowing he died for my sinful nature as well.... Some people want to chance belief with the flip of a coin? Yet where did that coin come from?

I believe in God Bob......and I will tell you, don't believe me.......you will find him yourself someday.

God Bless,

Rev.Jermano

I not worried about gods or what happens after death,  my worry is living, certainly not looking for a god but I am looking for the truth or a truth that I can truthfully believe in.

An after thought:

On the last breaths of life just before death.

Atheist: What if I am wrong and there is such things as God or Gods, well it to late now and if there is I will soon find out..

Theist: What if I am wrong and there is no God no heaven,  Oh well  I will soon find out.

The fact is we will never know the truth even when we die if there is no God no heaven and no hell as we will cease to exist any more. But people will say he, she has gone to heaven.

Why worry about it?

I really do think that this subject is extremely thought provoking. I am reading the Left Behind series right now, not because I am religious but because I saw it in a used book store and thought I should try it. I have not been able to quit it since. I can not decide if it is a good science fiction or the story of what is to come. I have not finished the series yet. I know that it is fiction which is based on the bible but if the premise is correct, I am not sure that Rev. Jermano is correct when he says that not believing will not close the gates. I do not really know how to classify myself. I do not participate in organized religion because the human element has made that too political but I do believe in God. I too worry about choices and whether or not I got it all wrong.

The truth is what really matters - not people's ten thousand beliefs, and certainly not their emotions (which is where religion comes from).  The logical truth is what matters.  The only possible way to know for sure if there is a God or Gods is to trash any beliefs you have, and look for God(s) - which is what no one does on this planet (because they already have gods or they don't have gods).  It would not be good to think of God(s) as spirit or invisible if you have no such proof.  Perhaps the easiest way is to say to God(s) in curiosity, "Who are you?" or even, "If you are there, please show me who you are."  There is no other way.

I talk a lot about this in my blog: http://junyabell.blogspot.com/

The question to ask yourself harringtola is whether you think God is a terrorist?

People who support the war machine are such people who say they believe in God yet do not really because they kill innocent people.
