Jail Over Marriage: Anthony Miller Robs Bank To Escape His Wife
Anthony Miller had to arrange a fake bank robbery to go to jail in order to escape his unsuccessful marriage. After his marriage failed, 39-year-old Miller tried to obtain a divorce from his wife. However, his spouse said she would commit suicide if Miller divorced her. That was when Miller realized that jail might be his only way out. The man had to get creative and invent a crime scheme to get imprisoned.
He bought a BB gun, walked into a bank in Pennsylvania and asked clerks to call the police. When police arrived, Miller was charged with a robbery attempt and sent to jail for three years. While in prison, Miller's wife agreed to divorce him. Now, Miller is a free man, but only when it comes to his relationship status. He still has three years of jail time to serve.
Before being sentenced Monday on bank robbery charges, 39-year-old Anthony Miller explained why he did the stickup in 2007: He decided he would rather be in jail than with his overbearing then-wife.

In his opening statement, the man then grabbed a mic and pleaded to the crowd, "Every time we're about to leave for a party, my wife turns to me and goes 'you gonna wear that?' But we play it off, don't we guys? We're like, "Uhhh, no, of course not -- I was just about to put my real clothes on top of these!"
He went on, "And she has SO MANY SHOES!!! I'm like, what is this, our house or a shoe store? Are we stockpiling shoes for the Great Shoe Depression of 2010?? This guy knows what I'm talkin' about!"
"...Long story short, I robbed that bank."
