JetBlue Incident: Screaming Pilot Removed from Plane-Video
JetBlue Pilot Runs Screaming into Cabin, Pinned Down by Passengers
JetBlue flight 191 from New York to Las Vegas had to make an emergency landing in Amarillo, Texas after the pilot had a midair freakout.
The pilot went to the lavatory and emerged screaming. The JetBlue pilot launched in to an expletive-laden rant about al-Qaeda and terrorism, and how the plane was going to crash. The pilot was subdued by passenger, who used their belts to restrain him.
Upon landing at Rick Husbands Airport in Amarillo, the JetBlue plane was met with an ambulance and FBI agents. The pilot, whose identity has not been revealed, was taken to Northwest Texas Hospital.
Below you can see video footage of the midair freakout, as well as footage of pilot getting removed from the plane. JetBlue's official line is that the pilot was suffering from a "medical condition".
The crew kicked the pilot out of the cockpit, and he turned unruly, attempting to use the intercom system, which had been disabled, said Josh Redick, 41, of New York. The pilot later attempted to re-enter the cockpit, but his security code appeared to have been changed, Schonzeit said.
