NP Rank:
Man Charged with Battery for Passing Gas Near Police Officer
In a nation where imprisoning citizens has become Big Business, it is very easy to get in trouble with the law. This spring, a teenager was arrested for wearing an unacceptable dress to her high school prom. Jose Cruz, of West Virginia, recently ran afoul of the law when he passed gas. He was charged with assaulting a police officer.
Mr. Cruz explained to the court that he was not allowed by police to go to the restroom when nature called. Lucky for him, the battery charge was dropped.

(AP) - Charleston, W Va - A West Virginia man accused of passing gas and fanning it toward a police officer no longer faces a battery charge. The Kanawha prosecutor's office requested that the charge be dropped against 34-year-old Jose Cruz. According to a criminal complaint, Cruz passed gas and made a fanning motion toward patrolman T.E. Parsons after being taken to the police station for a breathalyzer test. Cruz denies fanning the gas and says his request to use a restroom when first arriving at the station was denied.

Approximately 2.3 million Americans are presently behind bars. Taxpayers pay approximately $185 BILLION annually to incarcerate 1 out of every 137 citizens. Thousands of citizens are imprisoned for nonviolent crimes, like possession of small amounts of marijuana.
Mental patients are important commodities in the business of incarceration. Citizens with mental disabilities are regularly incarcerated for such offenses as disturbing the peace and vagrancy. Because mental patients are frequently unable to understand and/or follow prison rules, they often get harsher and longer sentences than their fellow "criminals." Approximately 1.25 million of prisoners suffer from mental dysfunctions, and that number is likely to increase as more mental hospitals close, especially if patients are released without governmental provisions for their general welfare (such as food and housing) and minus any mandates for continued psychiatric treatment after deinstitutionalization.
Tougher laws and longer sentences, including mandatory three-strikes laws, ensure that investors with shares in the privatized prison industry will continue to do well on Wall Street.
But there is a more humane way for businesspersons to invest: Build and refurbish mental hospitals and increase community care options for mental patients currently behind prison bars. Public protest regarding imprisoning mentally ill citizens is growing louder and stronger. Therefore, smart capitalists should consider redirecting their investments now into treatment for mental patients and away from punishment. Treatment is less expensive to taxpayers and more humane.
Persons who are interested in decriminalizing mental illness are contacting their representatives about this issue at this link: http://www.house.gov/writerep
How many "criminals" are taxpayers paying up to $50,000 per annum to incarcerate for committing such offenses as passing gas? The answer may be hard to gauge from reviewing the record, since the charge against Mr. Cruz for his illegal fart was written up as "assault against a police officer."

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee?
Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?
And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. ~ Matthew 25:37-40

Silvis can tell you a very interesting story about his experiences on madforart, a DCMS government website that he and a few others got closed down after they enlisted the help of MP Don Foster, but i will tell it for him.
I was also a member of madforart, like Silvis. There was a guy named Piers Midwinter, who started a thread, and everyone posted silly comments. I posted one, and mentioned the 'f' word, no, not that word, i mentioned 'fart'.
I could not believe what ensued.
He made a formal complaint to the community channel, sent me nasty threatening emails, and said he had complained about my comment, and actually sent me copies of emails he claimed to have sent to New Scotland Yard in London, and also his solicitor.
So much for 'wherever you may be, let your wind blow free '

Thanks for my first real laugh of the day, Sandalphon! It was your line, 'wherever you may be, let your wind blow free' that did it. I wouldn't arrest anyone over it, like the officer in this article, but I admit I am not too fund of the idea of folks just "letting their wind blow free" all over the place, either! LOL!

"Folks need to CHANGE the way they treat their fellow human beings along life's journey. Many different philosophies and religions teach the same truth: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."
Come see how i am being treated, here, and let me have your opinion. I have started a thread on this on my page. You are most welcome to contribute your thoughts !

It is interesting that Silvis knows about part of this blog that they have dug up, about a uk government website 'madforarts' that he, myself and another got the government to shut down because it was dangerous. He knows personally how i was treated, and even took bets on how long i would be a member of madforarts. I have contacted him several times over the past few weeks, seeking help. He claims to have an interest in mental health, but does not seem to want those people in saatchi to stop trying to drive me and my partner crazy. I know he is receiving my messages, as i have seen him online here in between his posts and my sending him messages.
He is well aware of one vile nasty person who sent me death threats , who was a member of madforart three years ago, and well aware that i am now in touch with another of that persons victims, who yesterday sent me a horrendous account of what happened to her. Silvis' reluctance to respond to me is worrying.

I am sorry you are having so much difficulty, Christopher. As you know, I have many trials in my justice quest. All one can do when faced with controversy in life is to pray and persevere. You mentioned people trying to drive you "crazy," and that is not an option. Do not allow the circumstances of you life to push you over the edge. You must stay strong. You must have faith. Everything does not depend on you in life. You have a great force of righteousness ready to help you, if you only reach out and believe. God loves you.
I don't really understand your issues, as I have not yet visited your website, but I do know that when human beings feel persecuted and treatened, they seek help in others. You wish to connect to Silvis, thinking he can help. Perhaps he will help you. But don't worry if your help does not come from the sources you see. Just learn to relax and look to God. He really does love you. Accept the fact that you can do nothing but try.
The outcome of human affairs is not in your hands. Man makes plans, but only God makes decisions.
In unity and friendship,
Mary
