Man Survives Drive Into Grand Canyon

A 21-year-old man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Flagstaff Hospital after accidentally driving his car into the Grand Canyon.

The man plunged 200 feet into the Grand Canyon; only a fortuitously-placed pine tree kept him from going full Thelma & Louise. He then climbed back up the cliff face and crawled onto a nearby roadway, where he was found by a tourist.

The incident took place on the evening of April 25; the driver's name has not been released. The park rangers are still investigating the incident, as well as trying to remove the car from its perch partway down the canyon wall.

There have been suicides and homicides in the Grand Canyon, but most deaths at the national park are due to weather or accident.

Thank God he's ok. I hope that tourists and locals alike will be more careful in driving their vehicle as this accident could have been a lot worse.
