We've all seen the documentary Super Size Me, where the film producer Morgan Spurlock explores the health effects of the fast food industry by eating three time a day for thirty days at the fast food giant McDonald's. We all know how that turned out - he went from having a normal Body Mass Index to being overweight.

Now a Virginia businessman Chris Coleson proves the opposite.

Not Big Macs, french fries and chocolate shakes, but salads, wraps and apple dippers without the caramel sauce.

Chris Coleson tipped the scales at 278 pounds in December.

The 5-foot-8 Coleson now weighs 199 pounds and his waist size has dropped from 50 to 36.

The 42-year-old businessman from Quinton says he chose McDonald's because it's convenient.

I totally agree with you ultra! I don't enjoy fast food myself. For those that want to stay healthy, eat lots of fruits and veggies, and work out. Fast food, even salad, is not the preferred way to go.

The problem with this is that some may now think that like the "Subway diet," a similar "McDonald's diet" may work for them. But how many people have the sense and will power to actually make healthy food choices at a fast food chain?

It ends up amounting to self-control, discipline and more than just the food. IE, you need to get a modicum of exercise too, else the food doesn't get burned, it just turns into sugars and/or fats in the system.

So, it's a mixed bag at best. Healthy choices are the best, not particular chains or fads.

Cheers,
~Michael

rpshen, I like this story. It's good stuff. Gee and to think Fashion Models everywhere could have eaten MCDees, instead of a steady Diet of Cigarettes and Coke.  Like the Commercial says...OOOhhhhhhhhh look at me, I'm a size 2 again, has never been to Darfur where everyone is a size 2, whether they diet or not!
