Outed by 4chan, Mary Bale Apologizes for Thowing Cat in Trash Can

Mary Bale, a 45-year-old bank worker from Stoke, has admitted to throwing Darryl and Stephanie Andrews-Mann's cat, Lola, into a wheelie bin. The incident was caught on the family's CCTV camera, and spread across the web like wildfire.

Within days, 4chan members found out the identity of the woman in the video, and the RSPCA investigated. West Midlands Police intervened, but to consult Mary Bale on her personal safety; she had come under attack online and in real life: protestors gathered outside her home issuing threats. (The "Death to Mary Bale" Facebook page was deleted due to terms-of-use violations)

Mary Bale issued a public apology, saying, "I don't know what came over me, but I suddenly thought it would be funny to put it in the wheelie bin which was right beside me.

"I did it as a joke because I thought it would be funny. I never thought it would be trapped. I expected it to wriggle free."

The RSPCA has taken over the cat-in-bin investigation, though some of the protestors have attracted police attention of their own.

Mrs Mann said once the woman was identified by police and the RSPCA she felt people should leave it to the authorities and not "take matters into their own hands".

But police said community support officers were sent to Ms Bale's home on Tuesday after large crowds gathered outside.

Hundreds of people posted angry messages on Facebook under the group name "Death to Mary Bale".

Said a police spokeswoman,

"I would not go so far as to say we are investigating death threats, that is not the situation, but we are closely monitoring these groups and messages.

I'd definitely like to see her lose her job, for starters.  Everyone should call the bank where she works, keep the phones ringing and protest in front of the bank.  That would probably ensure she loses her job

Why would you even do that!! What a horrid woman.......she needs help, the weirdo!!

I agree with Suzanne!

What I find offensive about all of this is how bad the comments are about Mary.   Let's get this straight.   No one died.   It's a CAT.   People get more upset over an animal being put in a bin than they do about humans being slaughtered on a daily basis.   My bet is she is completely sick of cats defacating in her garden, and who can blame anyone for being mad about that?   I do not like cats, but I do not condone injuring them.... although the cat in this case was not injured.   I wish people would be as interested in HUMAN life (abortions, mass murders, genocide going on daily) as they are about an animal's life.   Leave Mary alone.  She has apologized.   Who among you has never done anything they're ashamed of.  What's that?  No one has anything to say?........   didn't think so.

Jeffro why are you trying to sound smart, just because you dont  like cats doesnt make it ok and yes there is mass slaughter of human life and  people do care about it, this is some ones  pet and shes done that with no remorse, that cat could of died and she didnt care shes clearly a weirdo abit like you so shut the fuck up giving it the big'un saying no one with reply, people are right to voice their anger it could of been their pet the women needs sectioning shes not right and you need to get your head out her arse.

The point is that the cat did suffer and very well could have died. How one treats the innocent and powerless speaks volumes about the individual all well as any society which condones this behavior. If you (or she) think that it is no big deal then you wouldn't mind being trapped in a container without food, water, or means of escape for 15 hrs. What's that? You don't want to? Didn't think so.

So they defecate in your garden, so what...they bury or cover it up with soil/sand. The cat or any animal can't say i'm thirsty or hungry, or shout for help. Humans can. Just on another point....I love the humans...just a pity our population growth keeps multiplying and will eventually destroy this earth.

No animal should be treated this way, and no it is not as people say just a CAT, that kind of comment comes from people who care little or have no understanding for animals and we should feel sorry for these people. Believe me had I caught this woman doing such a thing to one of my cats, I would have made sure there was nothing left of her for the RSPCA to talk too. Lets see how much fun she thinks it would be if we placed her in a bin for a laugh. As for her saying she is sorry that's not good enough. I think she is a disgusting low life, who with a sense of humour like she has, should be sent to see someone who can maybe help her out. People like this disgust me and yes people are slaughtered every day however humans can defend and speak for themselves, ANIMALS cannot. As for the cat defacing her garden tell her to build a fence. Have a word, they would do this in the wild.

It's absurd to justify or defend cruelty to animals by saying humans are suffering. In my direct experience, people who treat animals badly very rarely treat human beings well.Apart from that, people are all the more outraged because this animal was vulnerable and trusting. Adult humans have more ability to take care of themselves. As for doing things they are ashamed of, I've never knowingly harmed a harmless animal. You are making it sound as if you have.

'Its a cat' are your serious?? What the hell did it do to be chucked in a bin?? And she had no right to even touch it!! Who the hell does she think she is!! The reason people are so horrified is because it was caught on camera. No one is saying they are more upset over animal cruelty than any of the other horrid things you have mentioned you are asking people to care about things that we know are happening but are not publicised as much as what Mary has or rubbed in our face all over the news and until it is, it will stay at the back of our minds.. Remember ignorance is bliss but as soon as your aware of a woman dumping a defencless animal into a bin and is widely publisied as this matter with footage we have witness with our own eyes it seems all that more appauling. I saw on the news once a defencless old man being mugged by youths and he died.. When I saw that I was horrified and I hoped the wee bastards got life and in prison hopefully become someones little bitch!! They were caught and justice was served and I'm sure they will get their comeuppance.. So.. you wish people would be as interested in human life? What are you talking about?? How is that not? Do you think it would be any different if Mary had does this to a child, say? No she would still get death threats!! And quite right too how dare she and how dare she think it could have been funny!! Would it make it ok if she did this to a child but the child wasn't hurt, it was 'only' stuck in there for 15 hours? It is no difference and for the police to class this as NOT an offence they are even more stupid than I thought!! Regardless she shouldn't get away with any of this doesn't matter weather its a cat or not and I hope she is crapping herself because just wait until the police protection isnt there for her anymore!!

"although the cat in this case was not injured." Your right, but leaving an animal to suffocate or possibly die of starvation is a pretty poor show. If we had saw an act like this against a child say, then there would be even more of an uproar, so your human v animal argument has no real creed. You usually find that the torture (which this is) of animals, is usually related to deeper mental health issues.  I think she deserves a massive amount of condemnation regarding her act and any course of action against her through her employment is totally her own doing.  We have all done things we regret but if any sane human being had done this then I'm sure we would either be incarcerated or struggle to sleep at night.

yeah animals can not defend themselves neither do they have a voice to speak up for themselves with!!!!! Nobody should leave that evil cow alone at all shes only said sorry cuz shes been caught out otherwise she wouldnt have said a thing! she couldnt have cared less if that cat got found or not! she didnt think of the pain it would have put the family through either did she if something had of happend! she had no business even touching that cat let alone putting it in a bin! and what would have happend if it was bin day!? god knows how many other animals shes hurt or ''played a joke on'' as she puts it. An so what if the cat was not injured its not the point she should not have even had the thoughts to do it in the first place! that poor cat was still stuck in a stinking bin with god knows what for hours on end probly scared and roasting hot as apparently it was a hot day! it was only by luck her owners even found her b4 it was too late!

I just wanted to let you know, you're a tosser. A complete dipshit. All the other replies have already done a fine job in countering your argument, I just wanted to outright inform you of your fuckwitism you scum of the earth.

Your argument couldn't be more deprived of logic. The fact that it's a CAT and not a HUMAN doesn't say anything at all, it is a LIVING BEING that was tortured, enough with the whole humanocentric idiocy the church has been feeding you for years.  Humans are by no means different by animals when it comes to their right for a life free of torture and pain. Cruelty is abominable whether it is exercised on humans or animals. And yes I hate wars, killings, abortions, child abuse as well, in fact I detest all forms of cruelty.

Jeffro, people have a voice of their own. Animals only have the voice we give them and that's the difference. When an animal is hurt people vent their anger to give that animal a voice. I don't like to see people get hurt but actions like Ms Bale's cannot be defended. She picked on a more vulnerable being and she has to pay for that. Humans are the only creatures that kill for fun and before you get onto the 'cats kill for fun' soapbox, they don't. Cats play they don't understand that their actions will kill what they're playing with, humans understand only too well which is why the more I know about people the more I love animals.

The reason people are so concerned about animal rights is because animals need our voices - other humans have their own. And don't "oh poor Mary" anybody, you damn Liberal, she's out of her freaking mind! And does it matter if the cat lived? If it hadn't, would your point be that Mary deserves this? No, so leave that point out of your argument - it is not valid. And WHO DOES THAT? I've done things I'm ashamed of but NEVER anything that immoral. And her apologizing doesn't change the fact that a grown woman put a cat into a (seemingly) empty GARBAGE CAN with a LID and left it for dead. She needs help. Seriously. And obviously, you do too.

LUTZ

STFU Jeffro. I hope you're banned from owning animals. "Just a cat"? Well, it could've died because of this woman's stupidity. It STILL counts as animal cruelty. The cat wasn't injured? No it just scrambled around in a bin for hours, probably covered in shit and rubbish. Wow. I bet that cat has problems with strange people now. 4chan aren't exactly the people who give up on anything either. She may have apologised, but they'll still do something.

bumblefoot2004

Mary Bale has "apologized," yet her other statements contradict her sincerity She was probably advised to issue an apology by the police in order to defuse this situation. I predict her bank will try to fire her. I suspect some of her bank's customers have made it very clear they want her terminated. I know I would. If they kept her, I'd bank elsewhere.Jeffro: You are an idiot.

Jeffro ...ive never done anything im ashamed of ...people do care about human life & if this had happened to a child she'd be inside now thats the diffrence pencil dick so you sad pathetic excuse for a human go get a life ! Bet your a right miserable shit as well ! lol

Alright, let's make it fair on everyone....Mary- have a 15 hour lie down inside a lion's cage with a ravenous beast.   If you survive, fine- all sins forgiven.  If not, well Karma is a bitch, isn't it?By the way, you did what you did cause you're so fat & unhappy, right?  You pathetic fat little thing- daddy and mummy weren't nice to you growing up, eh?

She is only sorry now as she has been caught on video....

anyone who does to this to a defenseless animal would do the same to a defenseless baby.  she's a menace to society and needs help.

people who are cruel to animals are more likely to be cruel to human beings, especially to children. this woman is a psychpath. she should serve time in jail.

How wonderful it is to know that someone like Mary Bale is humiliated so much. It's a very good punishment, but I wouldn't mind seeing her have a bigger punishment. If she's punishing a cat like that for nothing, she should get an enormous punishment too. The cat could quite easily have died! Mary Bale, you are a horrible stupid woman!

ericooooo

what an awful person. split second moments like that, showcasing terrible judgement, should not be happening with a 40+ old woman, unless there are deeper issues. throwing an adorable cat into a bin like that was an evil thing to do, and i sure hope she pays for it. this cannot go unpunsihed.

I wish there was a giant Mary Bale who could scoop up all the commentators here and chuck em in a wheelie bin.
