A group of employees at a commerical insurance company have claimed the winning Mega Millions lottery ticket. True to its name, the ticket is worth $216 million.

I've always considered the lottery to be a tax on people who are bad at math, but there are now at least ten people who strongly disagree.

The workers, who showed off the ticket during a press conference, “believe they have won the whole thing,” Mark Schussel, a spokesman for the Warren, New Jersey-based insurer of businesses and high-end homes, said in a telephone interview. The identity of the winners was reported earlier by WCBS-TV in New York.

If validated, the winners can accept either a lump-sum payout ($146 million, less any taxes, and, by "any", I mean "a lot"), or an annual payout ($8 million per year for 26 years).

I'm not sure what I'd do with all that money. Probably buy some new socks.

(I file this under Strange because the odds of winning the lottery are ridiculously slim)
