Miniature dachshund gnaws off diabetic owner's toe

This is fairly strange and definitely not something I would wish on anyone. Not a preventable situation I am guessing.
An Illinois woman says her beloved miniature dachshund gnawed off her right big toe while she was asleep. Linda Floyd told the Alton Telegraph for a story Wednesday that her beloved Roscoe was euthanized because of safety concerns.
The 56-year-old says she has no feeling in her toes because of nerve damage from diabetes. She discovered the toe missing after waking from a nap Monday. She called her daughter, who phoned 911.
A veterinarian says the toe had been bandaged because of a healing hangnail. That might have somehow attracted the dog.

This foot also has neuropathy, which I find amusing that you picked this photo for your story. It made my day. We also have a dog. I'll warn my husband not to sleep outside with him.

It should be noted that this adorable puppy is not the same adorable puppy that chewed the toe. :)
(Although the adorable puppy pictured does like to chew everything else.)

Makes me wonder if the dog jumped up on the bed to do the chewing? Luckily Neo (the hansom one with the cocky pose) knows not to jump up on to furniture and beds etc..

jay.el, I like this story. It's good stuff. Being diabetic, the victim will likely have problems for a long time from this incident, because diabetics are slow to heal. Wonder what happened to that dog to make it do such a thing?
