X'ian Up Close Does Investigative Piece on Sex Toy

Well, this is awkward. Chinese news show X'ian Up Close is left with egg on its face after a spectacular investigative blunder. When the villagers of Liucunbu found a mysterious object while digging a well, they called X'ian TV, who sent reporter Ye Yunfeng to investigate.

The mystery object, described in the video below as a "mystery mushroom", is actually a double-ended sex toy. An artificial vagina, to be exact. Check out the video-it's train-wreck-tastic.

Reporter describes the excavated sex toy as follows: "As we can all see, this looks like a type of fungus, on both ends of which you'll find mushroom heads. On this side, you can see what looks like a pair of lips, and on that side, there is a tiny hole which extends all the way back to this side. The object looks very shiny, and it feels really fleshy and meaty too."

Well, clearly he didn't do enough research on the internet, because duh. It's obviously a sex toy.

X'ian TV issued an apology via Sina Weibo, in which they throw Ye Yunfeng under the bus: "An open letter to all netizens and viewers: Hi everyone, one of our news reports which aired last night has made everyone laugh. This incident has been widely followed, shared and commented on. As our reporter was still very young and unwise to the ways of the world, this report has brought great inconvenience to everyone. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone from the bottom of our hearts for your criticism and correction. Please forgive our oversight!"

It's not entirely fair to lay the blame on Ye Yunfeng: her camera crew also didn't recognize it, nor did anyone in the entire village.

That type of sex toy shall forevermore be known as... the Mystery Mushroom.
