Researchers at the (NIF) National Ignition Facility have created the world's largest laser that will no doubt change the way we look at the stars.  Infact now we can make a star right here on Earth. 

This will also no doubt have weopan applications as well , think about the phaser weopan from Star Trek and it's usage in both hand held weopans as well as on board lasers that fire from a stationary point on to a target.  The future of lasers looks and is more real then ever.  This also means that an orbitting laser missile defence system is more then probable e.g. the Star Wars Project.

The end result is with the science intertwined with imagination the unthinkable can and does occur.

Who's to say that time travel will not be next......or has it been done already?
