New Bagel Head Craze Injects Saline Under the Skin: Crazy or Cool

The newest craze sweeping the clubs of Tokyo and slowly making its way west see teenagers injecting themselves with saline under the skin and disfiguring parts of their body, mostly their heads; it's called 'Bagel Heads' or 'bagelheads'.

The saline is injected under the skin and moulded into any shape the teens want, although it's usually a circle with a hole in the middle like a bagel, but they luckily only last for 24 hours.

It all started back in 2002 when a book was published by Shnnon Larratt called 'The Secret World of Extreme Body Modification' but is only really gaining popularity now, with hundreds of people rushing to have it done.

Some possible side effects mentioned are infection, skin stretching and headaches.

So how does it all work? (However, do not try this at home).

The person performing the procedure needs to be a professional body piercer, and will use a saline bag, tube and needle and insert it like an IV with the bag raised above the body part. Do not use tap water.
The needle is inserted under the skin, but not in a vein so as to burst any blood vessels.
It is often done on the forehead as the skin is very tight and the effects show up better, and people can prod the saline into more interesting shapes.
