For those that believe in the influence of numbers things like the birth of this 8lb child at 8.08am on 08/08 possibly has some significance beyond it's quirkyness but do stories like these constitute newsworthyness to the extent that a very serious national newspaper should devote more than a couple of lines to it? Well I enjoyed the story and it lightens the news but what does it really signify?

Well most know of 666 - the number of the Beast - and one would always perhaps hope that one's children did not have that set of figures in their birth date however written - but 888?

The number 888 in ancient Greek times represented the "Higher Mind." and the Greek variation of "Jesus," "Iesous," equals 888 - this isn't picked up in the story in the telegraph but what a great silly season story that would be - could this child be according to numerology the new messiah?

Ah! Maybe a step too far.

Conner Bolland's split second timing bodes well, as eight is considered a lucky number in many cultures.

His mother Samantha Wilson, 20, was taken to hospital on Wednesday when her waters broke, but Conner waited until the exact stroke of 8.08am on Friday to make his remarkable entrance.

Miss Wilson said: "It's just incredible.

"It wasn't until about an hour before he was born one of the midwives said 'if you can hang on for just a bit longer your baby could be born at 8am'.

"He was due on the seventh so it's almost as if he waited for the exact time to make his appearance.

"He's our first child so obviously he was always going to be special but this has made him unique."

Or maybe the kid was just born at a specific time. People read too much into nothing and then base beliefs on falsehoods.
