Nigerian preacher Mohammed Bello Abubakar has been told to divorce 82 of his 86 wives.

Abuja A Muslim preacher in Nigeria with 86 wives is to marry again despite being told to divorce 82 of his partners by Islamic elders. Mohammed Bello, 84, has at least 170 children.

If he fails to do so, he runs the risk of facing of death sentence under Sharia law:

Nigeria’’s Islamic authority has told an 84-year-old man who has 86 wives to choose only four and repent within three days or else he will be sentenced to death, according to reports.
The BBC said that Mohammed Bello Abubakar, a former teacher and preacher, could face the death penalty under Sharia law, which was reintroduced to the Muslim-majority Niger State, North-West Nigeria, in 2000.
