Can all my Denton and global activists out there help me? I'm having some troubles at my apartment, and they won't fix my door. They're known for being a little slow and I thought I'd round up the fam.

The numbers to call are:

Campus Square Apartments @ (940) 387-5565

Hardin Properties Inc. (940) 383-2388

Tell them that you'll "be calling every day until Jason's door is Apt #205 gets fixed!".

Appreciate it so much, and let me know that you called them. Leave a comment on my myspace page www.myspace.com/jasoncass or something.

Thanks!,

Jason

 PLEASE FIX MY DOOR

An open letter/petition from Campus Square Apartments Resident Jason C. Waite To Hardin Properties

September 24, 2008
Dear Hardin Properties,   My name is Jason C. Waite, a resident here at the Campus Square Apartments in Denton, TX. As of late, I've made several requests to get me door lock fixed- seven in fact- as of 9:30PM this morning September 24, 2008 in the Campus Square main office.   My issue with the door has not been resolved. Sometimes I cannot get into my apartment; sometimes I can't lock my apartment; for the most part the door works, but its a consistent problem and gamble to get things to work.   I've made these requests to get the door fixed several times- sent the requests to the management down stairs- and in fact, the maintenance man Steven has been called out several times and he has worked very hard to fix- not to mention he's very respectful and pleasant person to be around.   Despite all these efforts, the door is still not fixed.   I'm writing this open letter/petition because I'm not sure what else to do. I know that all residents could/would sympathize with this matter, and in fact, I know all of your Hardin Properties Inc. employees would as well.    As I've made no progress in this matter, I've decided to take the following potential courses of action until this issue is resolved:

  • publish this open letter/petition on-line (Google search to find it)
  • distribute this letter and to gather petition signatures in regards to it
  • publish my past and present videos of the lock malfunctioning on YouTube.com, LiveLeak.com, Break.com, MySpace.com, NowPublic.com, and IndymMedia.org
  • discuss forming a Campus Square Apartment union with weekly meetings
  • to form a newsletter, email Google group, and perhaps a MySpace page
  • make complaints with local, state, federal agencies in regards to my renters rights
  • and lastly to ally with local nonprofits and organizations such as SDS Students for a Democratic Society, Peace Action Denton, and the new Denton Solidarity Union
I wanted to make mention of the general management downstairs: Although they have listened to my grievances, they still haven't taken a proactive stance in resolving this issue conclusively. They have taken a rather laissez-faire approach to solving this issue, and I've made numerous attempts to tell them that its obviously not the door lock problem, but rather a door problem- as my door lock was replaced on my third complaint, and a new key issued. But again I'm still having problems.   Lastly, this morning September 24, 2008 9:30PM I went into the Campus Square main office to reiterate these things, and to tell them I could lock my apartment as I was leaving this morning, and that my property was not secure, and the property manager replied, "Your not going to video tape me are you? ... I don't appreciate you video taping."        I appreciate your time, and hope to resolve this issue.   With all humble regards,  Jason C. Waite SDS Students for a Democratic Society Co-founder Campus Square Resident
