Bulgarian cities have been plagued by bombing attacks and other underworld violence in recent years, with police at a loss as to how to combat the carnage.  Maybe todays bombing of a row of strip clubs in Sofia, Bulgaria, will rally the police troops to action.

Officials at a Sofia hospital say one of the victims is in a critical condition after the near simultaneous blasts outside the Panthers and Casablanca clubs early Monday.

Frequent bombings and arson attacks in Bulgarian cities are blamed on rival underworld gangs.

Bulgaria has faced strong international criticism for failing to tackle organised crime and corruption since joining the European Union in 2007.
