THE KING IN KING JAMES ENGLISH: PART TWO: BARBARIANS.

Chapter 1

1    Come near, ye nations to hear,

2     and hearken, ye people:

3     Let the earth hear, and all that is therein;

4     the world, and all things that come forth of it,

5     For the LORD said unto me,

6     Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen,

7     Concerning the king who sang,

8     That thou might tell in the ears of thy daughter,

9     and of thy daughter's daughter,

10   what things this king wrought

11   and the songs he hath sung among them,

12   that they may know him.

13   Now that king is dead, and his father, and many of his servants,

14   and nigh all of that generation.

15   Yet some of whom he was seen remain unto the present,

16   but some are fallen asleep.

17   Therefore, this treatise have I made, O daughters, of all that the king began to do and sing,

18   From his ancestors and birth until the day in which he was taken up in death,

19   after that he through his life had given many songs and much joy unto the people of the world

20   whom he loved and who loved him,

21   To whom he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs,

22   being seen of them forty and two years,

23   and speaking and singing of many things pertaining to the Kingdom of God:

24   And conferring to all who had ears that there was but one true king, and that it was not he,

25   but Jesus of Nazareth.

26   It is that same king of whom I shall write.

27   Yea, this is he, of whom much is written.

Chapter 2

1     But no man can truly come to know this king, except they first know of the people and time into which he was born,

2     and the people and times from which his ancestors came,

3     And that which he believed in above all else.

4     Thus, this, the king's story, must needs begin with one man:

5     Jesus christ of Nazareth,

6     Whose own story is told for all who have eyes

7     in the Holy Bible,

8     And who hath in every city them that preach him,

9     being read in churches throughout all the land every Sabbath day.

Chapter 3

1     Now after that same Jesus was crucified and rose again

2     he appeared unto the apostles which he had chosen

3     and commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem until they be baptized from above with the Holy Ghost.

4     And after they were all filled with the Holy spirit according to his word,

5     there was a great persecution against them and the church which was at Jerusalem.

6    And when Stephen was stoned to death, with Paul holding the coats of they who killed him,

7    many believers fled and were scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria.

8    And many remembered the words Jesus spake unto them after he appeared to them, saying,

9   "Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature,

10  And he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be damned."

11  And when many of the Jews would not believe,

12  that same Paul who was consenting to the death of Stephen,

13  Now a changed man through the Grace of God,

14  Then took the Gospel of Jesus Christ unto the Gentiles,

15  who heard the word eagerly, and who many believed and became followers of that way.

Chapter 4.

1     But there were yet great multitudes

2     to the North of Rome beyond the high mountains of Italy

3     who had never heard the words of salvation.

4     And they were called Barbarians.

5     And if thou who readest this are not of the Romans,

6     and not of the Jews, and the peoples who lived about them,

7     Nor of the Greeks,

8     Nor of the multitudes to the South of the Rivers of Ethiopia

9     (of which all came in the begining, For God hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth)

10   Nor of the peoples East and South of the Assyrian lands,

11   Then thou art of the Barbarians,

12   Just as was the forefather of the king which thou lovest.

13   In that, thou art the very same as he.

14   And just as the king came to know Christ,

15   So in the land of the barbarians, did his forefather.

Writer's blog for Part 2.

After putting up Part 1 last week, there were zero comments the next morning, nor the whole week, neither good nor bad. So I determined to shelve the project indefinitely if not forever. But it appears to be one of those things people do, because they enjoy it. So I have continued on into Part two.

A lot of the pressure is off now though, because if no one cares about it, then I can just proceed at my own pace.  If I finish it I do, If not, I don't.

Last week I asked readers for their opinion on whether the work should be continued or not... and they didn't have any:)

But laying in my bed this morning, I realized I had not asked the most important "person" what his opinion was.  And of course... I am talking about God.

And I got the feeling that he would want me to continue.  So I will... until... until I don't know what.

I'm struck though, that the king of which I write, had all the approval and love of millions of people... and in the end he still wasn't happy.

I guess there is a lot to be said for the peace that only God can give you.

I personally, don't have it.

But maybe I am on the road to it.

Regardless of what happens next, there is such beauty in the language and stories of the King James Bible...

that I know I will never shelve that permanently.

So anyway...

If there's anybody out there...

Til next time,

Have a good week.

Will.
