My partner Ann loves animals, she has a pig that lives up on her family farm and has bred caribou, goats and chickens and we are just about to set up a piggery on a piece of land she owns on the north east coast of Negro’s. It will be a family share profit scheme that will include crop growing etc.

However we both love pets, but have had a problem that we are both away from home too much either in Cebu City or near the family farm in Bayawan City.  However we have now come to a solution, we hire a animal nanny, of whom can second as a caretaker when we are a way. We have just redecorated the servant’s quarter that attached to the back of our house. Installing cable TV and furniture for our new employee of who is a spinster aunt that has been unemployed for a year or so. The family had been worried about her that the fact she had no children to support her in her late 50’s.

Next week we collect two puppies and now I can buy tropical fish and install a pond for carp etc. The idea came when I was told of Ann’s aunt’s plight, of course the family would have looked after her and she would have been accommodated on or near the small family farms. However she would not have cable TV and the comforts that Ann and I can provide.

It also means that Ann can go to college or university to get qualified as a computer technician and I can still go and find a spot on a beach to paint a few more seascapes. Knowing the pets are going to fed and looked after whilst we are away. Ann’s aunt will only be expected to clean the house when we are away and really be part of our family.

So from next week on our pets nanny will be here more as a guest than a servant and she loves animals as well. I know she will just love the job.

She had been employed as a chef for a rich Filipino family and comes with the additive of being a top class Filipino cook, so I can expect some improvements in Ann's already wonderful culinary arts.

I have missed not having pets for sometime now and important that one realizes that some pets have a long life span and it can be just the same commitment as having children.

The recession makes a single salary home a liability, and job cuts make it impossible to pay bills. With the unemployment rates still rising, more people are unable to get installment loans.  Even an industry giant like Chrysler can fall, as they have yet to re-emerge from bankruptcy.   Hopefully the stimulus package, which cost more than a pretty penny, will be able to restimulate growth and job creation, and bring a little debt relief  to the single salary home.
