Pingping, World's Shortest Man Dies: World's Smallest Man Dies in London


Pingping the shortest man in world has died. Pingping stood 2 ft 5 inches or 74.6 cm. Pingping born in 1988 suffered from what is called primordial dwarfism and was recognized by the Gunnness Book of World Records as the shortest man in the world in 1988. 

Guinness World Records said he had made a "huge impact around the world".

"From the moment I laid on eyes on him I knew he was someone special - he had such a cheeky smile and mischievous personality, you couldn't help but be charmed by him," said Craig Glenday, Guinness World Records editor-in-chief.

While shooting an Italian TV show Pingping was taken to hospital after complaining of chest pains. Originally from China, the 22 year old died in hospital though the news was officially released Monday.

Khagendra Thapa Magar, 18, from Nepal, who is reportedly 51 centimetres (20 inches) high, declared in February that he is the rightful holder of the title.

 

Reportedly the parent's of PingPing have requested his body be flown back to China for burial.
