With the economy what it is people can not even afford to gamble. So one 50 year old man took drastic action and got himself arrested, charged with larceny, hospitalized and charged a $500 bond, all for $182 in poker chips.

Mohegan Sun state police arrested William Willoughby, 50, of Bloomfield.

Willoughby is accused of stealing a box containing $182 in poker chips and using them to gamble.

While at the state police office, police say Willoughby resisted attempts to fingerprint him. He later complained of stomach pain and was taken to The William W. Backus Hospital in Norwich for observation.

Willoughby was charged with sixth degree larceny, criminal mischief and failure to submit to fingerprints.

He was held on $500 bond and given a Norwich Superior Court date of Feb. 26.
