Police State:Couple Unlawfully Jailed at US-Canada Border
A Canadian couple attempting to cross the border at Niagara Falls to go shopping in New York State were detained, interrogated and intimidated as if they were terrorists. You can hear the man who is definitely aggravated by the whole situation conversing back and forth with the border guards. All the while the undertone of this boarder guard is one of arrogance and a sense of power abuse in his use enforcement tactics. The Officer insists that the man give the exact address of the store he and the man's wife will be visiting. The Canadian man being interrogated is trying to explain the simple fact he and his wife wanted to go shopping in contrast to the boarder guards position that these people are terrorists. Pretty absurd accusation and request by a boarder guard. .Eventually in a obvious show of power at one point the man is told that these boarder guards arrest up to and as many as 3 potential terrorists a day. Further questioning elevate the situation wherein the man makes a gesture (head shake) and asks "what are you going to do shoot me"? Somehow that question gets turn around into a act of aggression by the Officers who claim he threatened them with bodily harm. This is a clear case of abuse of power, the Canadian couple both end up being arrested and detained for this unfortunate situation.

The only obvious thing is that the text of this post don't match what actually happened. Good thing about recording is that someone can't just restate what happened and have it be excepted. We can all hear this very clearly and it was very clearly the Canadian's fault that this all happened. End of story, no revisions accepted.

This is what will happens to Hispanics in Arizona too. People will feel like they are being suspected of being terrorists. But this man's attitude was uncalled for and he was uncooperative.

First, it's not BOARDER. Why is it that people can no longer spell? As the birth of the printing press gave rise to literacy, so has the birth of the internet destroyed all that was formerly accomplished--despite the advent of the spell-check. Anyway, my rantings aside, this article is biased. Sure, this blatant abuse of power is disturbing. Yet even more disturbing is the belief that an officer of the "law" has a supposed legitimate right to order another without need of question. Ha, las! How the Great Charter of Freedoms is so long dead.

A well orchestrated radio play, but lacking in some sounds that should have been present with movement from place to place, especially given the echo. Get a better producer and sound effect person for your propaganda.

I understand BOTH sides actually. I have a great experience in crossing borders and I know that border guards have NO sense of humour... just do what they ask and everything will be just right. Yes, it is NOT called "freedom" but this is how the border crossing works guys!!! Whether you like it or not - you have to obey their commands and accept their rules while crossing the border. After all - don't be damn naive- there is no "freedom" on this Planet.

The man crossing the border is an idiot. Everyone knows you don't cop an attitude at the border and expect the agents to let you through without some drama. Answer their questions (regardless of whether they are reasonable ones or not) politely and you will be through in a few minutes. You are entering a foreign country. THEIR country. You DON'T have a right to do so.... they may be arrogant and ask stupid questions, but so be it. Suck it up Princess.
