Prahlad Jani Survives His Two Week Test Without Food or Water: Defies All Odds, Scientists Baffled

Prahlad Jani, the 83-year-old Holy Man who has been undergoing observation by military doctors for two weeks has successfully completed his time without eating any food, drinking a single drop of water or going to the bathroom.

Prahlad Jani says it has been 70 years since he last ate or drank anything and as he has been monitored by 30 doctors for the past two weeks, it can only appear that his claim is true. He was kept in one area with closed circuit cameras all the time and no one saw him eat or drink anything.

We still do not know how he survives," neurologist Sudhir Shah told reporters after the end of the experiment. "It is still a mystery what kind of phenomenon this is.

The military doctors wanted to study Prahlad Jani because they hope it may give them clues as to how members of the military could survive for longer in the desert or while they are on a mission. It could also aid astronauts or people who are trapped in situations such as an earthquake or other natural disasters.

"(Jani's) only contact with any kind of fluid was during gargling and bathing periodically during the period," G. Ilavazahagan, director of India's Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences (DIPAS), said in a statement.

Now that the two week observation period has ended, Prahlad Jani has returned to his village in northern Gujarat and says he will continue his yoga and meditation practices.

He says that when he was young he was blessed by a goddess who gave him these special powers and made it possible for him to obtain energy through elements other than calories.

Proves? It doesnt prove anything. It proves India wants to try and prove their ridiculous religion. Obviously this is false, its not possible, try doing it under american surveilance and cameras, all of a sudden he will need to drink and eat

has overtones of Al Harpin (The Man Who Never Slept) Google.

he also was kept under medical scrutiny (in the States) .. the observers invariably fell asleep - Al Herpin evidently didn't.   He never slept a wink in his long life.   He didn't own a bed.  He'd slow down at nights and whittle wood or read the papers .. he had subscriptions for 7 daily newspapers .. he complained he burned a lot of lamp oil!  Doctor's never figured it out - how it was possible.   And he the ONLY person to be a complete and total insomniac.   Mr. Herpin cliamed it may have been as a result of his mother having fallen down a flight of stairs while child-bearing.  Presumably this implies he never slept even as a newborn.  This all dates back to the 1930's.   Deserving of a revisit / review.

it is interesting that he went 14 days with the study and then went home. Why won't he agree to go longer than that (as in a previous study he did)?  Why does not the hospital allow outside verification?  Why to the people in his own town say he is a fraud?hmmm.

''He nourishes himself through a nectar that pours down his throat '' LMFAO!! How substandard  Its obviously a desperate attempt to try and prove thier ludicrous religion otherwise they would have kept him under survailance and medical tests of a foreign commitee , i bet he wouldnt have sustained 5 hours even if he was under the scrutiny of a non-indian committee And besides , if he really possesses such a prowess, he wouldnt have approved them to put him under scrutiny whatsoever to begin with .

Wow you people need to do your homework.  Simple blood tests can tell whether or not you've eaten for days, weeks, even months/years given the nutrients/minerals/oxygen in your blood and other factors.  THey don't really NEED to see him NOT EAT anything... it's all in the blood tests really.  Plus, who the hell wants to (even for science/PROOF for the skeptics, and who really cares what they believe, cause you know they never will no matter how many FACTS are released) stay in a hospital for longer than 15 days???  Not me, even if I was super-human man.

Also, the above poster's opinions regarding india's religions are just base and ridiculous.  A man purports he can subsist without sustenance/water and you say he's doing it because/to prove INDIA'S RELIGION... you people are quite obvious religious christian zealots, and also very angry and extremely illogical, especially since he claims YOGA (which really has nothing to do with spirituality in and of itself) and MEDITATION (also has nothing to do with god/religions) is what helped him to do it.  Also, yes, he did say that in his childhood a 'goddess' blessed him with (the current) supernatural abilities... maybe he's delusional?  OR... maybe, like your belief in the FAKE MAN IN THE SKY, he believes something to 'blindly'... and maybe... maybe... it's actually true.  Who are YOU to say it isn't?  Your religion is better than his?  You're the same kind of guys/people who say/think things like, Hey, My D*CK is bigger than yours... or substitute any word there, like my gun, etc etc...  GROW THE F UP!  There are people out there with differing beliefs, and doesn't mean yours is BETTER than theirs or theirs better than yours... LIGHTEN UP.

Breatharians such as Prahlad Jani are only too real. People who live in psychological bubbles based on faith are blinded by their inability to use metacognition to step outside their narrow-minded blinkers... "open their eyes and realize the way it's always been."
