A premature baby was declared dead, but was then found alive in his coffin after he started crying The baby was declared dead an hour after birth and was placed in a temporary coffin in a hospital in Asuncion, Paraguay.
The baby, born prematurely, attracted hospital staff attention when he began to cry, greatly distressing family members who came to mourn.
The family was given a death certificate and a cardboard box with the baby's name scribbled on the outside which served as a makeshift coffin.
But when the family took him from the hospital to prepare him for his funeral, the unbelievable happened.
Liniana Alvarenga, a member of the infant's family, was initially terrified to find the baby alive in the coffin, before realizing that the boy was actually never dead in the first place.
"Initially, the baby didn't move, he practically didn't have any respiratory reflexes, nor did we hear a heartbeat and, as a result, we declared a premature fetus of 24 weeks dead," Weber told Reuters Television.
The baby has been moved from a coffin to an incubator.

Oh wow. This story is incredible. I would be terrified if I heard my apparently "dead" baby crying. The baby was 24 weeks premature?? Or had been in the womb for 24 weeks?
