FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHICAGO, (EWA) – Subsequent to the issuance of a press release challenging the results of the Unwanted Horse Coalition’s survey, a complaint was filed against EWA that brought down our website. The individual filing the complaintwas not a recipient of the press release that was sent mostly to media outlets.
The truth is more than the pro-slaughter groups can stand
EWA has clearly struck a nerve with the latest press release challenging findings of a survey from the strangely named Unwanted Horse Coalition of the pro slaughter American Horse Council.
Although the website is currently down, EWA is still functioning and has temporarily moved its content to http://www.vickitobin.com/id36.html.
“EWA will not be silenced and will continue uninterrupted,” said Tobin and Holland, co-founders of the Chicago based group that advocates only for horses, unlike the Humane Society of the United States and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Tobin expects the website issues to be resolved soon or the site will be moved to another web host. This is the second such attack in the past few weeks, she said.
“Freedom of the press is alive and well unless the subject is in favor of ending horse slaughter,” Tobin said of the attacks.
In the July 10, 2009 release, EWA challenged the results calling out intentionally omitted data from pertinent time periods, availability of the survey to anti slaughter organizations and leading questions that slanted the results. “The survey,” said Holland, “was nothing more than a demonstration of the effectiveness of the pro slaughter disinformation campaigns launched after the closing of the first plants.”

So, I assume that you are against Horse Slaughter? That is fine, some are for it and other against it and some simply could not say either way.
Why may I ask would you be against this practice though, since it may be of interest to our readers. after all Horse consumption is as commen around the Globe as Sheep, Goat, or Beef Cattle consumption is.
Especially in Europe, Africa, South America and Asia. The US export a lot of Horse meat to Europe still today. Most of this comes from Horses that have to be put down due to injuries or for other reasons.
Please do remove the hyper link and phone number since we do not allow advertising nor press releases.

The Belgian slaughterhouses are lying to you about where the US horses come from.
Horses are not a meat animal in the US, they are athletes, work animals, riding horses, and pets. They are treated with many medications and chemicals that are banned in food animals. Most American horse owners never intend for their animals to go for food.
The Belgian slaughterhouses contract with buyers to get horses. These buyers go to regular horse auctions, and buy any horses they can. They make no attempt to find out how these horses have been treated, or even if the persons selling them are the rightful owners. Many stolen horses are sent to these buyers for a quick profit and to get rid of the evidence.
When you eat American horsemeat, you are eating phenylbutazone, furosemide, and steroids, among other drugs.

Hi Paschen,
You have been greatly misled on the source of these horses. None of them were put down because of injuries. A horse must be killed at the slaughter plant to be eligible for human consumption and it is illegal to ship a horse to slaughter that cannot bear its weight on all four legs.
Of course the regulations are poorly enforced, but most slaughter horses are healthy and young. More are injured along the trip than start that way and diseased horses are not accepted for slaughter.
These are race horses that were a bit too slow, paint horses that were not pretty enough, Quarter horses that are over-bred, camp horses whose owners don't want to winter them over, horses of kids who have left home, etc. etc.
But in America we regard horses as companion and sport animals and find it repulsive that they be betrayed to such a cruel end.
Ironically, I have been asked if there is anyway I would accept the slaughter of horses for human consumption. I said "Yes, if the killer came to the owner's farm and shot the horse in the head I would regard it as humane euthanasia." Of course that is not practical.
Thanks for the chance to tell people the truth. I can link to lots of evidence if you decide to allow it. We do not solicit donations. And of course there are the drugs already mentioned.
