A most unfortunate kitty is being treated in Philadelphia after being found wrapped in duct tape.  Cruelty to animals is a disgraceful thing,  but obviously,  in many ways this  is lucky:  It might have been far worse.  She has been nicknamed "Sticky"  and callers are already interested in giving her a home.

"Whoever did this is very sick," said George Bengal, director investigations for the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, told ^ABC, as quoted by the Philadelphia Inquirer. "I've never seen a cat totally wrapped like a mummy before."

According to the Inquirer, the female cat, nicknamed Sticky, is doing well after she was sedated so the tape could be cut away with scissors. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to a conviction.

This provided by the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals' shows a female cat covered in duct tape from head to toe. Medical staff at the Pennsylvania SPCA were able to successfully remove the tape. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the conviction of whoever wrapped the feline. This story was on the Philly TV news last night. The cat will be allright! She was well enough to be cleaning herself after the tape was removed. But she was dehydrated. They said they never seen a cat wrapped completely in duct tape before.  Always a first. Good to see other people care!

This is shocking and sickening and I hope they find whoever did it.  One of the Vets who helped save the cat, after the person who found her dumped brought her to the PSPC, said she is a sweet cat that is friendly and affectionate. Someone's pet.

Pasadena police Cmdr. John Perez said in a statement; "Anytime a two year old child is found dead in their crib it is treated as a suspicious call. Maria Pelaez, 29 and Gabriel Diaz, 32 were charged with taping the feet, legs and arms of Rene Torres on the night of August 17, 2009.  During the course of the night, the child died. Investigators believe the cause of death of to be asphyxiation. They are still investigating whether the baby's mouth was taped when he died. Police had not received any child abuse allegations against the couple in the past,  Perez said.

Rene had turned 2 yrs old on AUG 3rd, his mother and her boyfriend admitted to LEO they had been binding the baby's limbs with tape as punishment for several months. I can only cry, Why? Which is more than baby Rene can do.

Oh,  that is a chilling story.  How could anyone do that to a cat and even worse,  a human infant?  I simply cannot grasp deliberate cruelty.  Maybe it is drugs,  or having been treated cruelly as a child.  I simply am horrified by these types of things, as you obviously are too. :(
