NP Rank:
Pupil back in school, wants lover arrested
Standard Eight pupil who had eloped with a councillor has resurfaced and is ready to sit the Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination (KCPE) scheduled for next month.
The schoolgirl, who is eight months pregnant, also wants the councillor arrested and prosecuted.
"I want the councillor arrested and prosecuted because he lured me out of school and took me to Eldoret. I hope justice will be done," she said during an interview on telephone.
The pupil returned to school on Tuesday morning to thunderous applause from teachers and her colleagues. She was accompanied by her parents who demanded police take action.
The pupil, whose story The Standard highlighted last week, said she was prepared to continue with her education and regretted having fallen victim to the councillor’s charm.
Turkana South District Education Officer, Dickson Ogonya said his office was liaising with the local Fida office to ensure prosecution of the suspect.
