Rachel Whitwell: Teacher Caught Posing for Penthouse

New Zealand primary school teacher Rachel Whitwell was recently featured in Australian penthouse, an Antipodean version of the popular adult magazine. Using the nickname Lexy, Rachel Whitwell was featured in six photos for Australian Penthouse's website in the "New Aussie Babes" section (which is a category error, come to think of it). However it was only a matter of time before other Kiwis found out, and sure enough, the New Zealand Teachers Council is reviewing her employment

I'm somewhat interested in exactly how they found out about this.

Teachers council records confirm Whitwell is registered to teach until September 2011.

She taught at Yendarra School in Otara, south Auckland, until a year ago when she left to spend time with her young daughter.

She plans to return to teaching once her child is older.

New Zealand Educational Institute president Frances Morton wanted Whitwell's photographic appearance investigated by authorities.

Rachel Whitwell asserts that posing for Penthouse in another country should not disqualify her as a teacher.

Incidentally, this is not the first Antipodean teacher/nudity story to take place:

Last year, Sydney teacher Lynne Tziolas, 24, was sacked for appearing nude with her husband in Cleo magazine alongside an article headed, "Buck naked couples talk about their sex lives".

She done it for the money, in the hope that no one would find out.

I don't see that she has done anything wrong. She has acted out in an adult environment. If any school going children see her posing in any adult magazine it should be, if anyone, the parent/s of those children that is judged. I'm on her side.

"Reviewing her employment" ?? Why do teachers' personal lives always have to bear the consequences of their private lives? As a teacher myself, I am really outraged at this. It's a shame, really.

Apologies: Why do teachers' PROFESSIONAL lives always have to bear the consequences of their private lives?
