I can't help wondering what the spicy rat with garlic is like, has anyone tried it?
PHNOM PENH (Reuters) - The price of rat meat has quadrupled in Cambodia this year as inflation has put other meat beyond the reach of poor people, officials said on Wednesday. With consumer price inflation at 37 percent according to the latest central bank estimate, demand has pushed a kilogram of rat meat up to around 5,000 riel (69 pence) from 1,200 riel last year. Spicy field rat dishes with garlic thrown in have become particularly popular at a time when beef costs 20,000 riel a kg.

If the economy doesn't turn around soon, I'll at least be trying field mouse (no rats here).

A field mouse would make rather a nice starter.

Secret-of-NiMHburgers? Hey, whatever works. It's not like Cambodia will be able to effectively raise cattle for mass consumption, as the mined terrain means that the livestock could become hamburger at any time. Cambodia has one of the most hack-friendly, McGyver-friendly cultures I've ever seen, in which locals can make just about anything out of whatever is available. I don't think eating rat is inherently more nasty than eating a Big Mac.
(I've eaten chicken- it tastes just like snake)

Thanks Jordan, I agree I would not mind if my Big Mac was beef or rat as long as it was not a veggie one!
