Raw: Texas cop Tasers 72 year old, great-grandmother

That big fellow need some lesson in manners and dealing with people.

My husband is a retired officer of 25 years and if he had ever treated a woman who was clearly no threat to him that way we would be divorced ASAP!!  He should be ashamed and fired!  He should have called for backup to control his wild imagination and his taser finger.

why is she out of her vehicle? he did take it too far, she was no threat to him. the taser was not justified...

THAT OFFICER IS SO FUCKED UP! HE OUGHT TO BE A FUCKING SHAMED OF HIMSELF AND I HOPE SHE PURSUES CHARGES ON HIS DUMB ASS BECAUSE HE IS A TOTAL ASSHOLE. SHE WAS NOT A THREAT TO HIM. 1ST HE PUSHED HER LIKE SHE WAS A BIG MAN, THEN HE TASERED HER FOR NO REASON! HE JUST WANTED TO USE HIS DAMN TASER! WHAT A FUCKING IDIOT THAT COP IS, THEY NEED TO PUT HIM ON A DESK!

i hate to say it but the cop was right.

OMG I'm sure he gets off on turning on his sirens and running down petrified puppies also. A punk with a badge is still a PUNK.

The officer told her a few times not to do something and she kept beleiving he was not serious. Do what an officer ask and then complain later if you think he/she was out of line. No matter how large the officer is, he is not payed to be pushed into the street where he could get hit. Officers can win in this situation because SOME force had to be used. Officers do not have to keep asking civilains to comply forever or get thier suspervisor to come to the scene. Good Job by the officer.  Too bad she was old and that is why she thought she could bully him because of her age.  Now if a white older lady treated a white cop like that, guess what she would (maybe) treated a black or hispanic cop.  Remember the time frame she grew up in.

Im am sorry to say, but i have to be on the cop on this one, he shouldnt have pushed her like that, but he was trying to get her to listen to him, she wouldnt just listen to him and do as he said, he was gonna put cuffs on her for a reason, she yanked her hand away like a little child and started to go to her car, which from there he didnt know if she was gonna start her car and drive off, or if she was just going to sit there, i think the pushing is a little to far, and the tazing might have been a little to far too, but the dumb broad should have listened to what the cop says, nothin good comes out of not doing what a police officer says........

thats also called resisting arrest..........

but you cant really make a decision, because you cant watch the whole tap, you dont know what happened between her and the cop, after they skipped to the part where she was out of her car..... from what litttle bit you see it sounds like she is argueing with him and then they skip it to where she was out of the car........ so you really dont know the whole truth......

also the broad lied to the reporters and stuff when she told them she wasnt argumentive, she obiviously was, if she wasnt then she wouldnt have pulled her hand away when he tryed to cuff her......... so its the old ladys fault for being tazed no matter what....

If this officer was so concerned about his safety from the nearby traffic, why were his feet so close to the white line? When he threw down (not tossed mind u) his ticket book AND his handcuffs, he clearly had no problem pushing her away 3 or 4 ft. further away from the white line. She then turned her back to him and was immediately tased. Hmm. In my state, signing a ticket does NOT MEAN U AGREE OR DISAGREE WITH THE CHARGE. It only shows that u received the ticket. In this video, I wondered why was she out of the truck in the first place. No cops around here would allow a driver to get out of the vehicle, unless they were planning to arrest the driver.

The cop was right.  Why did she fail to cooperate with the police officer?  If she had pulled a gun and shot him dead, no one would say "poor little 72 year old lady."

This officer should be fired and tried in a criminal court for this crime, I  CAN'T BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED IN THE USA. IT IS TIME FOR THE NATION TO WAKE UP TO THIS SORT OF CRIME. HE SHOULD NEVER BE ALLOWED BACK IN POLICE WORK

While it DOES appear she is being a little defiant,  if a cop can not control a 72 yr old lady he has no right being a cop.  I dont think he should have tasered her, but the problem is if he had "manhandled" her instead to get her to stop he'd be sued for that.

Bottom line - there is no respect for police or authority anymore. NO ONE on here is saying what was she doing driving 60 in a 35 - at her age - she probably can barely see and has very slow reflexes... but everyone's jumping on the cop and not the road menace. Bear in mind I Do think the cop went too far - but take her age out of it - she's a speeder who is resisting arrest.

The situation got out of hand because grandma actually disrespected the officer by not obeying him.  He in turn, got a bit frustrated because grandma defied him.  Both tempers flared and grandma got the worst of the deal!!!  Actually, how was he to know she did not have a gun in her car. Besides, no matter how old you are, you should still obey the speed limits.  If  you get caught, just cry like everybody else does...Don't disrespect the officer, Grandma.   

I have mixed feelings. Granny says in the interview with the reporter that she was never rude, never resisted, never talked back, etc.  However, she needs to shut up until she views the cops video.  Right now, she looks like like the liar. Granted the officer did snatch her around a bit, but she kept jerking her arm away and causing him to have to be more aggressive.  Looks like tempers just flared and granny ended up on the ground "trying to get her hand behind her back".  He had asked her a numer of times to do it voluntarily, but she got smart with him. Age does not give you license to break the law and mean mouth the officer, Lady.

My 73-yr-old mom told me about this story, so I had to look it up and see it for myself. I have mixed feelings about what was fair, however, she did, in fact, argue with the officer and try to stare him down obstinately with her arms crossed in front of her like he was a little boy who wouldn't follow her direction while explicitly NOT doing what he lawfully told her to do.

Perhaps tasing wasn't the best answer. I have no experience in the use of taser in escalation of force and where it fits in.

My own mother said that when she heard about it she was initially outraged, then she watched the video and, in her words,"Well, you old biddie, you asked for it."

You gotta admit, she kinda DID ask for it.

This situation was ridiculous. He was just abusing his power as a police officer. Imagine what he does to his kids at home! She was not a threat to him at all. This could've been avoided if he would've talked to her with more respect. His people skills are at an all time low.

i would like to shock that fucking pig.
