Flooded out and tired of waiting:
By ALINA WOLFE MURRAYBUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Tired of waiting for authorities to replace a bridge swept away last July by floods, Romanian villagers have finally given up — and built their own.
The catch: They didn't have a permit. Now they're the subject of a criminal investigation.

They shouldn't have to face a criminal investigation for this.

With all the support from officials, even the prosecutor, they'll probably get a pass. The police do have an out. see the story.

This is the story of control and accountability. Those in power face nothing for their incompetence, mal- and misfeasance, but the ones who solve the problem do.

They should contact our Government in BC and see about building our Portman Bridge, they seem to have the skills and low ball price!

The bureaucracy in Romania and all countries in the former Soviet zone is totally deadening; killing initiative and wildlife with the same dead hand. It takes them many years to build a bridge in Romania, with all the permits, but these guys can do it in a day. Just shows who knows what they're doing.
