NP Rank:
Romanians Make World's Longest Sausage
A group in Bucharest, Romania created the world's longest smoked sausage, measuring in at a whopping 392 metres.
The Mayor of Bucharest, Sorin Oprescu, was on hand as a representative from the Guinness Book of World Records announced that the sausage had set a new world record. The new sausage was more than 200 metres longer than the previous record-holding.
It took two weeks and more than 300 pounds of meat to make the sausage.
City officials won't be sitting on their laurels, however. They are already planning to build the world's largest cake.

Sausage vendor in the outdoor market along the river in Targu Mures. They were served on a cardboard tray with a line of mustard, and a stack of bread. This photograph is part of a three week project in Transylvania called 'Observer in Residence'. More photos and information here :

I must admit, I was surprised when I received the invitation to include my photo in this story, because apart from the presence of sausages in the photo, there's no real connection. The photo was taken in Canada, the sausages are not particularly large, or strange for that matter.
My photo was taken at a popular restaurant in Toronto, Canada, which specialises in breakfast. I always try to go there when I'm in Toronto because I love back bacon, also known as Canadian bacon. I've included notes, which you can see if you view the picture on my flickr photostream.
Cheers!
