Halstead and Knockholt's Pcso has not been seen out and about on his bicycle because he is not qualified to ride one.

Before Pcso Nick Barker is able to don cycling clips and safety helmet in the line of duty, he has to pass a special test- even though he recently told Halstead's annual parish meeting he had been riding a bike since he was a boy. Police have defended the policy. Insp Adrian Payne said: "If officers use a mountain bike for operational duties they are required to complete a training course
