Is SFU Surrey really that bad? After noticing a number of complains about the SFU Surrey campus, I decided to help clear up a few things. Although there are many complaints such as closed washroom, parking stall, and lack of study rooms, SFU Surrey gives warm welcomes and the people entering will never get tired of looking at the award winning architecture as well as all the easy access of transits and the recent up-to-date technology we have at SFU Surrey.

As third floor male washroom has been closed for a few weeks, many complaints that the situation should be solve sooner; however, that is not the only male washroom at SFU Surrey. I believe that SFU are trying their best to have the male washroom repaired. Everything has a process, and that one male washroom is not the only problem SFU Surrey has on their to-do list. In the mean while, male students who have classes around that area can take a few minutes beforehand and head to the second closest washroom or the washroom in the Mezzanine, which is always empty.

Parking stall has been a big problem for SFU Surrey students. Other than those who have gotten a parking spot through scholarship or lottery draw, everyone else has to park at the student parking lot, where students have to move their car every 3 hours or so. Imagine there aren’t any parking lot for students but customers only, what would it be like? Thinking from the positive direction, SFU Surrey is providing you a free parking lot, and you should be thankful for it. All the effort, or the “payment”, is the time you have walk to the student parking lot and move your car every three hours. If you really do not have time to move your car between your classes, I recommend you can try the parking lot right in front of Future Shop. From my personally experience, you are less likely to get a ticket at the Future Shop parking lot compare to the student parking lot.

Lack of study rooms? I believe SFU Surrey campus provides the best studying environment for their students. With all the study rooms they have, students working with friends or in a group project are able to concentrate in their own room. However, the lack of study rooms’ problem does not seem to be out of control. The problem with study rooms being full are because some people booked the room all for themselves. In this case, group who needs a room, Please, be strong and nicely ask the person to leave.

In conclusion, SFU Surrey campus is a wonderful place, they provide the best student learning environment. With good transportation, technologies, and study rooms, no other university has the combination of these three except SFU Surrey, which have all of them.
