sleep, meditation, and death
I have a couple beautiful articles about love that I'm holding back on because of some recent experiences with some narrow-minded people. These same people would rather look for things to 'nail' me on (judge and condemn) rather than be receptive to a beautiful way of looking at love and life. So please forgive me for not publishing them; put the blame on people like them. ^^ Perhaps your world is simply not ready for people like me (and our messages). Even so.. I have important ideas that need to 'get out'; this is one of the few ways I have at my disposal..
I've written about this before but recent developments impel me to write again. Also, I've been unfairly criticized in one of my essays about what I'm going to discuss: Dzogchen meditation. The following is simply my 'take' on the matter; I don't consider myself an expert on the topic or background .. Over several years, on and off, I've attempted to 'stay aware' while falling asleep with varied and mixed results. The 'Dzogchen religion' incorporates this 'meditation technique' as part of their perspective. From my understanding, if you can 'stay aware during falling and sleep', perhaps you can do similarly during physical death. (A BIG question mark should follow that sentence.) The phenomenon of 'falling asleep' has some similarities to dying but.. I question the parallel/analogy. Certainly, it's very interesting but.. I would not bet your life nor the life of your family on their assumption.
From my meager understanding of spirituality and meditation, when you are actually going-in to a meditative state, you are vulnerable to 'demonic' possession. Back in '94, I believe my body was possessed (involuntarily) one night.. Something took control.. I felt my movements were not my own. I felt like a puppet watching myself perform sex on the woman next to me .. I cannot recall whether or not I was attempting to enter a meditative state that night.. Perhaps I was.. In any case, I had a 'possession experience'. ^^ Crazy? Who knows.. Perhaps what we glimpse out of the 'corner of our eye' is Reality. ^^ Who really knows..
Back to Dzogchen meditation. So. Quite recently, I've had some limited success on this front. Seems like 'three's a charm'. ;) Two previous times, some entity 'punched me in the chest' apparently to keep me from achieving the state. This woke me up and pissed me off. What right does anyone/thing have to mess with my meditation? Like I'm gonna 'change the world' with the results? ^^ Right. ~ What's so important that 'they' cannot allow me to achieve this state? ^^ Is this all some complicated delusion or reality?
The consistency of the experiences belies the former. Typically, an intense buzzing sensation ensues, total loss of body awareness, perhaps some kind of 'out of body' sensations occur,.. I never had any expectations about what might happen during one of these 'sessions'. They simply happened spontaneously. ^^ So what above is trying to say is: carefully try your own meditation techniques. Whatever you guess might make you vulnerable to possession, avoid it. Aside from that, pursue them like a rabid dog. ;) This may open a 'whole new universe' to you.. ^^
In some ways, I might title this article 'A Wizard's Journey – Part 3' but.. Everyone has their own 'magic' (gifts and aptitudes).. So.. If you feel intrigued by 'meditation while falling asleep', try it. The worst that can happen is: 1. you have trouble sleeping or 2. you have sex like a meat-puppet :P Is that so horrible? ^^ :P [sigh] .. Meat puppets.. Life-after-death .. Gug used to criticize me something like: “you spew out random phrases hoping something comes out sounding profound” .. It's a 'little' unfair.. ~ We all want meaning and meaningful interactions.. When we die, is it 'the end' or.. A new beginning? ^^? [sigh] .. We can figure it out.. Together. :) love, sam :)
