Someone Stole My Identity

I just recently came across this website after looking up my nickname handle [outtheresister] on the web.  To my amazement I find part of myspace profile here on www.nowpublic.com?

I contacted the website owner just 15 minutes ago and asked my profile be removed... and then half way through writing a complaint I thought " I am just going to hack into that website and get the password myself." So I did. And here I am. If I have to hack in order to protect my own identity I damn will....

Whoever  posted articles in my name will no longer post being that I am in the process of erasing everything written here. I am appalled by what I have read...OMG! Who in their right mind fails to give credit to where credit is due? I would never do that! More then half of these articles I did not write and some that I have, have been reworded. Piss me off!

So people do not take into account this crap until I correct it.

Thank you

if someone gets your username and pw, there isn't much you can do about it.  exactly what kind of identity theft protection should nowpublic be using?

Interesting you ask this being that my job is finding solutions to problems. I write policy.

I have plans to force website owners to protect profile users from identity theft, and if they don't, they can be held accountable in a court of law.

Once the policy is enacted, you will know.

I agree with outtheresister, web sites who claim to have a privacey policy should protect it's legal member users. I sometimes do wonder why the 100 questions, I want to join your site therefore all that is necessary is a user name, password and perhaps a valid e mail address and nothing else, yet on some sites you are asked for mothers maiden name, your real name etc etc. When I joined this site just this morning all I was asked for were basic details and that is how it should be with all web sites. Good luck to your future plans Outtheresister.
