Teenager Shoots Himself in the Head to Wake Up from Magic Mushroom Trip

17-year-old Steve Tilbury was tripping on magic mushrooms, and wanted to stop. In order to do so, Tilbury shot himself in the head with his parents' .22 caliber rifle.

The bullet did not penetrate Tilbury's skull, and the teen bandaged himself up and left his house to seek help. The mushroom trip did not end with the gunshot, obviously: to not, under any circumstances, try this. Better yet, don't do any drugs anywhere near unsecured firearms.

We're not making fun of Tilbury when we presume that was a fan of the film Inception, whose opening scene establishes that dreamers wake up to real life if they die in the dream: Cobb shoots Arthur in the head as a favor.
