World s tallest man has become a father

The world has a new tallest man, Sultan Kosen, 27, of Mardin, Turkey. Sultan Kosen was officially declared the world's tallest man by Guinness World Records after his opponent, Ukrainian born Leonid Stadnyk, 37, was dropped as a contender for refusing to be independently measured.

Sultan Kosen measured in at 2.47 meters, or 8'1", and even though rival Leonid Stadnyk was said to be significantly taller at 2.57 meters, or 8'5.5", his refusal to be measured by a Guinness World Records representative means Sultan wins the title. Leonid Stadnyk had previously been declared the tallest man in the world and held the title without confirmed measurements, but his when his title was challenged and he refused to defend it his title was revoked.

Leonid Stadnyk is not sad to let go of being known as the world's tallest man and says he is happy to give up the mantle to a younger man. Tired of living in the public eye, Leonid Stadnyk is looking forward to retiring his title.

For his part the new tallest man in the world, Sultan Kosen, is looking forward to stepping into the spotlight saying he hopes that his new found fame will help him finally find the love of his life. "Up until now it's been really difficult to find a girlfriend" Kosen declared.

Guinness World Records said that 8 foot 1 inch (2.47 meter) Sultan Kosen, from the town of Mardin in eastern Turkey, is now officially the tallest man walking the planet. Although the previous record holder, Ukrainian Leonid Stadnyk, reportedly measured 8 feet 5.5 inches (2.57 meters), Guinness said he was stripped of his title when he declined to let anyone confirm his height.

Stadnyk, 39, told The Associated Press he refused to be independently measured because he was tired of being in the public eye.

"If this title had given me more health or a few extra years, I would have taken it, but the opposite happened, I only wasted my nerve cells," he said.

"If I have to choose between prosperity and calm, I choose calm."

That is very interesting.  It is amazing the guy that is 8' 5" inches would net let any one check his height.  I guess some people don't like the spot light.

I'm currently trying to think where threaded comments fit in the roadmap right now, but it is something that is definitely planned. We're not going to say people *have* to use threaded comments, but the system shouldn't restrict people who want to have that option. Plus for larger conversations I think threaded comments make everything easier to follow.
