Sunday's Tale of Quaint Robberies at the Local Fried Chicken Joint
Weekends wouldn't be complete without pop ups of funny and strange news oui? Well, this is not so much as funny but its pretty unsettling and downright odd as well.
What does it tell us when a man starts robbering a particular brand of fast food chain-restaurant, not only for the money but also for a few boxes of fried chicken wings, about 5 times in 4 months and nearly got away with all of them?
You'll get a pretty random Sunday wrap up isn't it?
JOHOR BARU: A 25-year-old man pleaded guilty to five counts of armed robbery at the Session’s Court here for robbing KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) outlets in the city armed with a "parang" (machette). He was jailed for five years for one of the offences.
Not only Farid Ahmad, 25 pleaded guilty but he also confessed to the Session Court Judges that the robberies were done with few other accomplices (who are currently still at large).
In one of the cases, it was reported that he robbed a KFC customer twice within few weeks of the two incidents. He pleaded guilty for the first and forth charges made out by the Prosecution against him to robbing Melissa Natalie De Cruz, 24, of a total of RM 49,000 at 2 seperate KFC outlets in Taman Ungku Tun Aminah in the state of Johor.
The accused also pleaded guilty to three other charges of robbing three other people, Norafidah A.Karim, Fuaadah Muda and Norreliya Shariff of their money, jewelleries and cellphones. Totaling all to RM 51,643.50 and 3 gold rings and 4 handphones worth RM 3000.
To the plead of guilty by Farid, the Malaysian State of Johor Bahru - Session's Court judge mitigated the sentence to 5 years of jail for one of the offences.
Another judge presiding over Melissa De Cruz's case, Judge Jamil Hussin sentenced him to another 5 years of jail time for pleading guilty to the first and fourth robbery charges.
While 2 more court dates were fixed the end of September and it is expected that he'll get an additional 10 years worth of jail time for the two remaining cases.
Eventhough he didn't hurt anyone when the act of robbery took place but he and his (still roaming free) cohorts managed to scare off customers in all the 5 KFC outlets and fried chicken sale was reported to have decreased over the weeks in the outlets around the town of Johor Bahru.
Makes you wonder what was the line he used:
"This is a stick up! Give me all your cash, jewelleries, phones and oh yes, a bucketful of your best 'Original Recipe' chicken drumsticks - Pronto!"
Ok sorry, just had to add that in...

tiha zaman, I like this story. It's good stuff.
That is more jail time than some get for homicide. He may have been better of taking a job at KFC and forget about Robberies all together.
