Tareq and Michaele Salahi Crashed White House State Dinner
Tareq and Michaele Salahi appear to have crashed the White House state dinner on Tuesday night as the White House insists they were not invited.
The couple are aspiring reality tv stars from Northern Virginia and they managed to somehow get through many layers of security to take pictures and mingle with people like Joe Biden and Rahm Emanuel. Michaele Salahi has a photo album on her Facebook page as well.
Tareq and Michaele Salahi, described as 'polo-playing socialites' are connected with the upcoming show The Real Housewives of Washington and are know for participating in a family feud over a Fauquier County winery. But despite what their Facebook page said, they were not invited to the White House state dinner.
On Michaele Salahi's Facebook page she writes:
I was honored to be invited to attend the First State Dinner hosted by President Obama & the First Lady to honor India. In June 2010, the America's Polo Cup will be between INDIA & the UNITED STATES. Please join me in this cultural celebration of politics, diplomacy, fashion, sports, entertainment & family fun.
The couple was not on the official guest list, but Mahogany Jones, a woman who claimed to be a publicist for the Salahis said:
"The Salahis were honored to be a part of such a prestigious event ..... They both had a wonderful time."
If the couple did crash the party, this would be the first time that anyone has crashed the White House dinner, and it could question security practices at the event.
"Everyone who enters the White House grounds goes through magnetometers and several other levels of screenings," said Ed Donovan, spokesman for the Secret Service. "That was the case with the State Dinner last night. No one was under any risk or threat."
If it is found that the Salahis were not on the guest list, then their actions would be illegal, unless they were snuck in by a White House staff member.
Their pictues of the event include Katie Couric, Ed Royce, Mayor Adrian Fenty and his wife Michelle, Robin Roberts, AR Rahman, Indra Nooyi, Rahm Emanuel and Joe Biden.
However, their photos end after the initial shots inside the tents and there are none of the dinner or the post-dinner entertainment, so it is curious as to what happened to them.
The Salahis did say on their page that their reason for attending the dinner was:
"India is the challenger in the America's Polo Cup World Championships June 11/12 2010, and they are very excited in this first ever cultural connection being hosted on the DC National Mall since Polo is one of the primary sports in India."

The White House social secretary must have stepped away because she/he is responsible for checking off the names of the invitees.
The Salahis managed to sneak out when dinner was served because there weren't any seat for them.
It was a really bad breach of security all around, especially when the White House was concerned with keeping its guest list a secret!!

Polo is not one of the primary sports in India.
