Randall Scott Canup, 18, of Mooresville died Thursday night when the car he was driving struck a mobile home on Wiggins Road in Mooresville.

The passenger, whose name is not being released because officers have not talked directly with his family, was airlifted from the scene to Carolinas Medical Center. His injuries are not considered to be life-threatening, the Mooresville Police Department said.

Sgt. R.M. Faust of the MPD said the 2000 Camaro Canup was driving left the road at a high rate of speed and collided with the front of a mobile home, owned by Mike Neill. Neill was at home at the time of the crash, but was not injured.

The car was lodged several feet under the home, and officials said it was knocked off its foundation, and was sitting on the ground in the rear.

The name of the passenger and further details will be updated as they become available.
