The students are being investigated by the Benbrook Police, who said they received a tip that the two students, aged 15 and 16, killed two chicks as part of a superstition.

Chickens, Baseball & Superstition

Chicken sacrifices are mentioned in Bull Durham, and parodied in Major League. Wade Boggs would only eat chicken before his games, but was not known for actually killing those chickens.

"Baseball is very superstitious, and I assume [movies like Major League and Bull Durham] are where they got it from," McIntire said.

Fort Worth school district spokesman Clint Bond acknowledged that an incident occurred during spring break at Western Hills.
