In the Garden of Eden, the serpent persuades Eve to taste of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, even though God had warned Adam not to "for thou shalt die". The serpent offers up the fruit and tempts Eve thus: "For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." GEN3:5
Some people think that the Bible implies that the human race swapped immortality to attain enlightenment, and that we have become as empowered as the gods because we now know of good and evil. But there's no such thing as good or evil, they are man made concepts produced by self -preservation responses. Ideas about good and evil are nothing but a residue from our evolutionary past, from the most ancient part of our brain: the 'reptilian mind.' There's no such thing as good and evil in the Universe, because the Universe lacks inherent existence. This means that which you percieve as 'reality' is devoid of any meaning whatsoever, and that you, as an observer, supply ALL meaning to it. The serpent decieved Eve, as it still decieves us all, for we did not fall from ignorance, we fell from enlightenment.
The fastest brain rhythm is that of the lowest center, the cerebellum, which can make a response within 2 milliseconds, quite close to the limit for a nerve fibre. The cerebellum, or 'little brain', takes on the appearance of two halves of a walnut, but once dissected it reveals white matter which takes on a branched, tree-like appearance: the Arbor Vitae. Arbor Vitae is latin for 'the tree of life', but it's been given the wrong title, it should be named after the tree of knowledge of good and evil. All of mankind's ideas about good and evil begin here, in the cerebellum, and it's immediate emotive overlay. A little later in the brain, the mediated response of the neo-cortex generally occurs in about 50 milliseconds, and a state of arousal of the brain requires about 200 milliseconds; in other words, we are not creating a conscious thought about what we are seeing until much later. The point is, we are not able to question what we are seeing until it's too late, so we adopt our perception of the Universe as a universal truth, instead of the subjective truth it really is.
Humans have fallen from enlightenment, and landed in the ignorance of believing that our world is either right or wrong, when the truth is that these high, and bloody minded concepts do not even exist. Right or wrong exist only to protect the self, and are therefore the product of fear. The Bible continously asks us not to fear, "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul." MATT 10:28. Where then is the need to condemn our fellow man when we no longer choose to fear one another? This then is not another man made ideal, it's love, it's the real stuff, it's truth.
"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love." IJOHN 4:18
