A woman who works at a petrol station in Livingston, West Lothian, Scotland rammed her customers car into the front of the petrol station as she helped the disabled person.

She didn't notice the car was an automatic and crashed it into the shop’s glass front.

A DOZY petrol station worker tried to help a disabled woman fill up her car — but ended up ramming it into the SHOP.

The female attendant spotted the customer struggling to line up her motor with a pump and offered to help.

But her good deed turned to disaster when she failed to realise the car was an automatic — and sped into the shop’s glass front.

The worker at a Shell garage in Livingston, West Lothian — who has not been named — even gave herself minor whiplash in the crash and was taken to hospital.

A police source said: “The service attendant had gone to assist the disabled person.

“But unfortunately she didn’t realise the car was an automatic and it went skitting forward into the shop.” A Shell spokesman said the assistant tried to move the car at the customer’s request.

He added: “In doing so, she accidentally drove it into the shop. The site’s emergency shutdown procedure was immediately activated and nobody was seriously injured.”

Emergency services rushed to the scene to remove the damaged Vauxhall Corsa after the 10am smash yesterday. The garage was closed for repair work last night.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokesman confirmed the incident.

A fire service spokesman added: “The garage will be closed until further notice for restorative work.”

It is the second dramatic petrol station incident in the area in months. Last October an explosion inside a white Transit van being used by contractors at nearby Morrisons sparked a huge fire engulfing its petrol station.

There were around ten customers on the forecourt at the time. They all escaped serious injury.
