Thong Bandits Captured

Two suspected robbers, nicknamed the “Thong Bandits” for their habit of using skimpy women’s underwear to cover their faces, have been captured in Colorado.

Eschewing the more traditional stockings or tights as headgear, the men reportedly broke into a shop in Arvada in the US state wearing tiny underwear over their faces.

One man’s garment was a verdant forest green with white trim, while the other sported a deep royal blue.

The men stuffed cash and cigarettes into a small pink girl’s rucksack before fleeing, according to Colorado police.

Unfortunately, at least for them, their chosen face coverings left little to the imagination, and much of their faces remained visible in a CCTV tape broadcast across Colorado.

Nineteen-year-old Joaquin Rico and his alleged accomplice Joseph Espinoza, 24, both turned themselves in to police custody, the BBC has reported.

Police said the two were unarmed but allegedly hit one of the shop assistants, injuring her.

It is not known if there are any Bridget Jones-style “Granny Pants Robbers” working the shops of Colorado, but if there are, they remain at large.
