I suppose, someone giving out the information. This must be done by more than one person. Definitely, an inside job.

Thousands of blank British passports have been stolen in a raid on a delivery van.

Around 3,000 passports and vignettes, the blank stickers for visa stamps, were taken yesterday morning.

Former Scotland Yard fraud officer Tom Craig said the passports would be worth around £1,700 each, and could be used to set up bank accounts or to find work.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office admitted there had been a serious breach of security but she said 'preventative action' had been taken to guard against forgeries.

The passports are thought to have been the new electronic type which contains a chip replicating the data printed on the document itself.

renovatio, I like this story. It's good stuff. That is certainly disturbing given the rash of terrorism today, thanks for bringing this new to Now Public
