Top 10 Halloween costumes for your pet
October 31st, it's Halloween and you're all dressed up ready for trick or treating, listening to your Halloween music (Monster Mash or Thriller anyone?), ready to commit some Halloween pranks, but could you have forgotten something to get into the spirit of this Halloween?
What about your pet? Don't they deserve to join in the Halloween fun with a scary costume of their own? Or a cute one if you prefer?
So here's the top 10 Halloween costumes for your pet so they can truly be a part of the family:
1. A Superhero (A cape can do wonders to transform your pet)
2. A Ballerina (just a simple tutu really)
3. A police officer
4. A pumpkin
5. A schoolgirl or schoolboy (with a tartan skirt or shorts of course)
6. A cowboy or cowgirl
7. Any kind of hat can transform a pet (for example what about a mini sombrero?)
8. A cartoon character
9. A biker chick or guy (a little leather coat would work well for this)
10. Another animal (it's always cuter when a dog is dressed as a bear, and vice versa of course!)

I don't think my cousin put a costume on her cat Trixie but, Trixie helped give out the Trick or Treat candy!

I love that pets are now more able to join in family fun at the holidays, They are, after all, part of the family too. How fun it is to make them feel important too. Some pets seem to know it is good fun and they want to join in, others don't like dressing up, and they should not have to participate if they show an aversion to putting outfits on. I have 6 dogs and only a couple of them really enjoy dressing up, the others would rather be left alone and we respect those wishes for them. Our Rat Terriers are the best sports and they love it when we bring out the costumes, they really enjoy trying on costumes. So enjoy your pets but don't force them to join in.

I swore I'd never be one of those people who put clothes on their dogs, but I promised Curly Joe's foster mom that I would get him a costume for his first Halloween. Out of everything I looked at, the pirate costume was the one that lept out at me. Curly Joe is kind of a piratey name, after all.
You can tell by the look in his eye that he wasn't too happy about playing dress-up. In fact, it was after this particular photo shoot that Curly Joe developed a dislike of cameras...

A couple of ladies had their little dogs all dressed up and were pushing them around in strollers at our local farmer's market. The dogs were so cute and seemed to really enjoy the attention they were getting. I say, as long as the dog doesn't mind, go for it!

This is my mother's cocker spaniel, Charlotte. I was working on a book of dressed-up cats, and decided to try the "garden party" costumer on Charlotte. I made the skirt myself! Charlotte, of course, isn't terribly amused. Then again, is ANY dog happy with being dressed up? LOL....

This is Gwynn, wearing her halloween costume, and her buddy Ginger, wearing a pink hoodie. Gwynn doesn't particularly like wearing clothes, but Ginger loves it.

Spike and Angel attended our wedding, so, while it wasn't actually a Halloween costume, it was a pretty good outfit!
