VPI Pet Insurance recently released a list of the most unusual pet names in their database.

Staff at the California-based insurance company sifted through more than 465,000 pet names and came up with a list of 50 strange dog and cats names and then voted on the Top 10. Here are the results:

I totally love 'Edward Scissorpaws' and 'Sir Lix-a-lot'! Those are way funner than my cat's name!

My cousin's cat's name is Nip. After finding out his name for the first time, I quickly forgot it and called him Bip and the name stuck. My cousin named him Nip after a character in a learn to read book when we were kids. It was called "Fluff & Nip" and was about a dog and a cat.

We found this kitten in the snow on Christmas day. It was cold, dirty, wet, and really smelly. We posted ads but nobody seems to be missing it. We've since cleaned it up and are going to keep it, but it needs a name.

my pet, "komeng", named after a famous trouble making character in one of our country's old movies. and boy is he a trouble maker..lucky he's cute tho=)

My new German Shepherd puppy is called Teyla. She's named after a character from the 'Stargate Atlantis'series. The character is a lovely soft natured person who can kick butt when she needs to. That's how I want her to be......burglars beware!

My friend named her cat when she was in the bathroom - she called it Boglid!

My cat is/was called Kitty, however when she was spayed, due to having stitches, for some reason my father decided to rename her stitch - it was now 6 years ago and she is still referred to at stitch :)
